Meibukan Goju Karate St. Vital

Karate evolved over several centuries as a method of self-defense without use of weapons, kara-te literally meaning empty hands. Meibukan Goju Karate is the traditional Okinawa style of Karate, suitable for all age groups.

Strengthening both body and mind, Karate is a means of instilling self-confidence and self-discipline. Especially for children, Karate is therefore very effective in countering peer-pressure and gang involvement.

Chief Instructor Sensei Ryan Rolfe, Yondan, 4th degree black belt has been involved in Martial Arts since 1984, with an emphasis on traditional Meibukan Goju-ryu Karate. In addition, his expertise also comprises pressure point tactics, street self-defense, Ju-Jitsu, non-classical Tai Chi Chuan, and traditional Okinawa weapons (bo staff, tonfa, sai).

Sensei Ryan Rolfe makes his home in the St. Vital community where he grew up and later raised his own family. His desire is to reach out and give back to the community through the sharing of his art which has given his life a sense of fulfillment and direction.
